This programme is for the following year groups: ECE, Years 1–3, Years 4–6, Years 7–8

Explore the art of tapa and tīvaivai as practised throughout the Pacific. Trace the origins of both artforms through cultural, social, botanical, linguistic and archaeological lenses.

Get hands on with tapa and tīvaivai, and use pattern boards, stencils, rubbings, collage to create works inspired by these artforms.

Learning Outcomes
Learners will:
· Understand what tapa and tīvaivai are and how they were made
· Examine the use of tapa and tīvaivai as a traditional artform and how it was used
· Gain an understanding of the importance of tīvaivai in Pacific cultures
· Compare the similarities and note the difference between tapa and tīvaivai


Please note: minimum 20 students, maximum 30 students per session.
